Children attending Someries Infant and Nursery School enjoy one of the lovliest settings of any school. The school has been extensively refurbished in recent years.
The school building houses four completely refurbished key stage one classrooms and two completely refurbished reception classrooms, all with direct access to outdoor teaching and learning spaces. Each year group also has a designated additional shared teaching space called a 'Learning Hub'. Our nursery is housed in a separate building within the school grounds and has shared access to a fully-refurboshed outdoor early years classroom.
Someries Infant and Nursery School has invested heavily in its IT infrastructure and provision. Each year group has access to designated laptop computers, and interactive whiteboards are present in all teaching and learning spaces. In addition to this, all pupils have access to a suite of tablet computers. All of our IT equipment is wirelessly linked to our secure Internet connection.
Every child also has access to our Immersive Learning Centre which enables us to facilitate an increasingly flexible and experiential approach to the way we teach your child in all areas of their learning. We are the only school in Luton to have these state-of-the-art facilities which enable us to ‘take’ your child to previously impossible places in their learning; from an enchanted forest to a tiger-dwelling jungle to being chased by Vikings or swimming with dolphins! Complete with its own spectacular interactive floor, our Immersive Learning Centre has the ability to quite simply become anywhere or anything imaginable!
Our central school hall is at the hub of school life, being used for assemblies, drama, P.E. lessons, school productions and concerts, as well as for meetings and social events. Its other main use is as a dining room where children come together for either a hot meal from our on-site school meals provider or to enjoy their packed lunch. We place a high value on all these times of coming together and believe the atmosphere of purposeful activity and social interaction of immense value to our school.
The school is built on one level and has designated disabled toilets to ensure accessibility is maintained for all children.
We are very fortunate to have such extensive outdoor spaces. The school has access to an excellent playing field and a hard surface area within the school grounds. An adventure trail with an all-weather safety surface provides an exciting additional play facility, which, coupled with our multi-use games area, stage, multiple seating areas, allotment and willow structure make for a varied and stimulating outdoor environment where all children are able to find their own space yet still be provided with challenges as they grow. The school also hosts a new climbing zone which contains a climbing frame and scramble net to develop pupils' climbing skills.
We have a large hall for hire in the school. The hiring of the hall is officially done by our Governing Body, but our school office staff can assist you with any initial enquiry you may have. Please use the form below to enquire about letting our school hall.
All enquiries will be considered on their own merits and will depend on the availability of the hall and of school staff.
