Home Beyond the classroom Forest School

At Someries Infant School, we have our own bespoke Forest School area on our school site. Throughout Forest School sessions, pupils are able to spend time exploring the natural world around them and develop skills to support the science and design technology curricula we deliver through Prime Learning Challenge curriculum model in school.

During sessions delivered by our Forest School leader, pupils are taught a range of skills which they can utilise during their exploratory play and develop their knowledge of the flora and fauna from our local environment and Forest School area.

Forest School provides pupils with the opportunity to manage their own risks in a controlled environment and this is extremely beneficial for pupils' mental health, wellbeing and self-regulation skills.

Through activities such as den building, creating natural transient art and hunting for insects in our Forest School area, pupils have opportunities to work as a team and cooperate with others whilst developing our school's twelve core values.
